Scar Release and Fascial Release

Scar release massage treatment

Gentle techniques learnt from the Jing Institute in Brighton and the internationally renowned Rolfer, Sharon Wheeler, may gradually soften and diminish the appearance of scars and adhesions often caused by surgery, injury and trauma.

A recent research project undertaken at jmb showed that myofascial release can have a significant positive impact on painful scars, fibrosis and adhesions following radiotherapy and surgery on the breast.

What clients have said....

“Myofascial release is a wonderful treatment. If only the NHS could plan it after our radiotherapy treatment. I was rather sceptical initially but I'm totally won over by it.

Jenny - Winslow

"I was, getting by, putting up with, the scarring, tightness etc. until my myofascial release sessions with Julie Barnard.”

Fiona – Winslow

“Another myofascial release session and yet more improvement. Why don't all plastic surgeons recommend this treatment to help with the scarring caused by surgery etc?"

Ann – Winslow

Chronic pain

Chronic Pain massage treatment buckingham

Our muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia are designed to work in harmony to keep us perfectly balanced. So when one of our muscles is strained or over used, or our pelvis is out of alignment, our entire body works hard to protect and correct the problem. All the while we continue to push ourselves while experiencing the emotional and physical stress of our jobs and lifestyles. Eventually we start to ache and everyday movements become painful simply because our bodies can no longer function correctly.

Each client has an individual treatment plan with the intention of delivering the desired outcome to ensure long term results. It is important to work with the soft tissue, not against it, so the techniques used are mindful of each individual’s pain threshold and tolerances.

Rehabilitation is an important part of recovering from chronic pain, so a program of strengthening and stretching exercises is given to complete at home.

What clients have said...

“After just one treatment I was able to do up my shoelaces for the first time in six months!”

Martin, Aylesbury

"For years I had put up with low back pain after a bad fall. After 4 initial treatments with Julie I now have monthly massages to help me look after my back. I didn’t realise massage could be so effective.”

Justine, Bicester

Sports Injury

Sports injury treatment buckingham

Many people enjoy regular exercising and sport, whether it’s playing squash once a week or running marathons every few months. Research shows that having regular clinical massage treatments will help prevent injury. Not warming up and preparing for your sport with conditioning exercises will make you more vulnerable to injury, as will pushing yourself to the extreme without the correct training program.

Each client has an indiviIdentifying imbalance and weakness in the body and treating accordingly with massage and rehab exercise is important to help the body reach optimal performance. Advanced sports stretching, trigger point therapy, soft tissue release (STR), sports taping and deep tissue massage are the techniques used to help maintain healthy muscle tone or repair and recover after injury.

What clients have said...

“Excellent knowledge. Excellent care. I am a dance professional and was untreated by many before I discovered JMB Advanced Clinical Massage. I am happy and confident to personally recommend this service to anyone.”

Kim – Milton Keynes”

Treatments for long term conditions

Long term pain relief

For some people, chronic pain and fatigue is an every day experience. Massage may be found to bring relief from aches, reduce stress, increase relaxation, address feelings of anxiety and tension, and aid general wellness. It can also be used in support of other therapies to assist in the rehabilitation of muscular injuries. The Touch Research Institute in the US has contributed much data supporting the benefits of massage.

A combination of Swedish massage, myofascial release and gentle stretching are used with the intention of improving mood, reducing pain and increasing range of movement for those with underlying medical conditions.

What clients have said...

“Excellent. Patient and attentive care. Listened carefully to my problems and responded accordingly. I am very impressed and will be going again.”

Rick - Bedfordshire

“I am 90 and have a treatment every week. Julie keeps me moving and helped me get back on my feet quickly after my hip replacement”

Pam, Silverstone
